after a nice boomlet in playlists on various video/audio sites, things have regressed a bit. a few times in the past couple of weeks i've wanted to watch/hear a series of media files and either the site simply didn't have a playlist feature (nfl.com) or it was just harder than it needed to be. imho (through limited observation) everyone wants to lock down their content again and that makes it harder to put it in a simple list.Me:

but even when they do that they don't offer a playlisting option, where it seemed that they were doing that earlier. it's funny, i don't think people see it as a problem, but it's definitely detrimental to consuming media on the web. rhapsody's player works great and you can make a playlist that works even on a mac. i think (punting here) that they want to include ads and don't realize that it's possible to stick an ad into the playlist as easily as it is to make you see the ad by viewing files one at a time.
